CHAIR’S REPORT – 2013 ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
GOOD EVENING EVERYONE AND WELCOME TO THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING. I AM GILLIAN WARRRENDER, CHAIR OF THE PARISH COUNCIL.
OUR PAST YEAR HAS BEEN RATHER LESS EVENTFUL THAN SOME OF OUR PREVIOUS YEARS. KILHAM HALL RUN BY ITS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE CONTINUES TO BE VERY SUCCESSFUL FOR BOTH COMMUNITY EVENTS AND PRIVATE FUNCTIONS. THE POPULAR TUESDAY COFFEE MORNING GOES FROM STRENTH TO STRENGTH. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK PARISH COUNCILLOR BARBARA FUSSEY FOR HER VALUABLE SERVICE ON THE KILHAM HALL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE AS THE PARISH COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE
THE PARISH COUNCIL CONTINUES TO MAINTAIN TO A HIGH STANDARD THE RECREATION GROUND AND PLAY AREA WHICH IN THE LAST YEAR INCLUDED A NEW AND MUCH IMPROVED PLAY SURFACE.
WITH REGARD TO THE NEXT YEAR IT IS HOPED TO PUCHASE PICNIC TABLES FOR USE AT THE RECREATION GROUND ALSO AFTER MUCH REPRESENTATION FROM THE PARISH COUNCIL WORK IS DUE TO COMMENCE TO IMPROVE THE FORK JUNCTION AT WHIPHILL TOP LANE. THERE HAS ALSO BEEN STRONG SUPPORT FOR THE INTRODUCTION OF A 20 MPH SPEED LIMIT ON VALLEY DRIVE AND IT IS DISAPPOINTING TO HAVE HEARD THAT DONCASTER COUNCIL DOES NOT INTEND TO IMPLEMENT ANY NEW 20MPH SPEED LIMITS AT THE PRESENT TIME. A FUN DAY HAS BEEN ARRANGED ON SUNDAY 23 JUNE WITH PROCEEDS BEING DONATED TO A LCOAL BOWEL TRANSPLANT FUND. WE ARE ALSO PLEASED THAT THE RECREATION GROUND IS NOW USED BY BRANTON JUNIORS FOOTBALL CLUB FOR THEIR TRAINING.
THE PARISH COUNCIL CONTINUES TO WORK CLOSELY WITH THE WARD COUNCILLORS PARTICULARLY TO SECURE A ZEBRA CROSSING ON DONCASTER ROAD, THE COUNCIL’S NEIGHBOURHOOD TEAM AND THE POLICE TO KEEP THE PARISH TIDY AND SAFE. ATTENDANCE AT OUR MEETINGS AND THEIR HELP AND SUPPORT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
RESIDENTS ARE CONTINUALLY REMINDED THROUGH OUR NEWSLETTES ABOUT THE NEED TO CLEAN UP ANY DOG FOULING AND NOT TO PARK ON THE GRASS VERGES.
IN CONCLUDING MY REPORT I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL MY FELLOW COUNCILLORS PARTICULARLY THE VICE-CHAIR JENNIFER WORTHINGTON FOR HER SUPPORT AND EXPERTISE AND FOR ATTENDANCING MEETINGS WITH THE AIRPORT AUTHORITEIS, ALSO YVONNE BUTTERWORTH WHO ALONG WITH MYSELF ARE REPRESENTATIVES ON CANTLEY POOR’S LAND TRUST AND MICHELLE SIDEBOTTOM FOR HER INPUT INTO THE CHRISTMAS CAROL SINGING EVENTS. I LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUING TO WORK WITH EVERYONE TO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE THE PARISH FOR THE BENEFIT OF RESIDENTS.
THANK YOU ALSO TO OUR CLERK WHO WE COULD NOT MANAGE WITHOUT AND THE HANDYMAN FOR THEIR WORK THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PARISH.
LASTLY BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST MY THANKS TO RESIDENTS OF THE PARISH FOR THEIR SUPPORT AND INFORMATION PROVIDED DURING THE YEAR.
AND THAT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN CONCLUDES MY REPORT
